Tomato `a la carte

If you are looking for an easy snack or side dish, you should consider the tomato. Like my other recipes, this one is really simple!

Tomato `a la carte


  • 1-3 tomatoes
  • balsamic vinegar
  • olive oil
  • salt


  1. Take a tomato and slice it into circles.
  2. Pour a little balsamic vinegar over the top of each tomato slice.
  3. Then pour a little olive oil over the top of each tomato.
  4. Add salt to taste.
  5. Voila! Serve with a fork and knife.

My children and I really enjoy it. It is gluten-free, healthy, tasty, and easy to prepare.

Sometimes I’ve served it with freshly sliced cheddar cheese underneath the tomato; that adds some protein.

You could also serve it on toasted bread, such as Udi’s gluten free bread or whatever type of bread you like. Then it would be like a simplified version of brushetta.


In this picture, I only show one tomato slice. That’s because I ate the other slices, and then I decided to take a picture! Usually, a few slices per person works well.

We’ve enjoyed it as a snack, or as a light side dish with lunch or dinner. It only takes a few minutes to prepare, and the taste is impressive.
